March has definitely been hectic, but things seem to be calming down, and I'll be able to resume more of a regular schedule on The Well-Read Child next week. Regardless of how busy life and work have been, I've still managed to read to my daughter every evening. However, because my reviews require brainpower (none of which has been left at the end of some pretty long days recently), I haven't written many. I do have a huge stack of books waiting to be reviewed, so they're coming!
Tomorrow, look for my review of The Tale of Despereaux, Kate DiCamillo's 2004 Newbery Medal winner. I also have a few nonfiction selections I've read but haven't yet decided which one I'll feature for Nonfiction Monday.
I'm curious to see how you liked The Tale of Despereaux - I purchased it to read to my daughter one day (she's almost six) but haven't yet read it myself! I did though read The Spiderwick Chronicles not too long ago and just finished Tuck Everlasting yesterday. It is so much fun to read children and YA novels, not only to my daughter but for me too!
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! I just posted my review. I liked the book a lot, and I think your six-year old would like it too, but read my section about the dark parts. It may still be a little too much for her, but it's very mild compared to Harry Potter to give you a little context.
I haven't read The Spiderwick Chronicles or Tuck Everlasting, but I definitely want to soon. I totally agree with you about having fun reading the children's YA novels. I'm having a blast.
