I have a verocious reader at home. She's just about to turn six and is reading at least middle of 2nd grade in both fiction and non-fiction and I am having trouble finding some suitable fiction for her that is age appropriate in terms of content and language yet is still able to challenge her reading level. Do you have any recommendations?
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of Junie B. Jones (grammer issues)or Clementine (Character issues)-- for my daughter that is. They're just not a good fit for her personality. She loves science and nature (I recommend the OH Yuck book by Joy Masoff and Terry Sirrell) and is not your typical girly girl -- much more serious and sensitive child (and smart as a whip).
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
